CreativeMornings - Acceptance

Creativity and Inspiration Matter

I had a different email planned for this week, but the weather is nice and the only thing on my brain is a long weekend of respite by the water.

So I’m postponing the ChatGPT-related blog and I’ll save the insights for how to integrate all of your personal and professional identities and show up whole (a little teaser for messages to come…) and instead, I’ll leave you with some serious inspiration to end your week.

One of the coolest organizations of which I am a part is CreativeMornings, the world’s largest face-to-face creative community.

I’ve been on the volunteer team here at CreativeMornings/Richmond for 6+ years, the last 2 as Host, and I truly believe in the power of giving a damn, that everyone is creative, and that everyone is welcome.

This past Friday, we had the pleasure of hearing Roscoe Burnems, Richmond’s First Poet Laureate, share his thoughts on the theme of “Acceptance.”

As part of his talk, he gifted us with his words on topics of racism, privilege, gender roles, his son being a butterfly, the five things they don't tell you about grief, love and god and love, and more.

I was breathless after this talk.

If you consume no other content this week, give yourself the gift of Roscoe's words.

It is my new favorite CMRVA talk of all time (and yes, I love them all).

Find it here.

Here’s to ending your week inspired and invigorated.

xox,

Michelle

P.S. Also at CMRVA, I invited the community to join me at the Byrd Theatre this Thursday, 5/25 for a screening of Deconstructing Karen and a radically open talk about racism in America led by Saira Rao & Regina Jackson moderated by Ashley Williams. If you’re seeing this message today, t’s not too late. Please join me and get your ticket here.

P.P.S. Want more room for inspiration? Retreat with me! Recapture your youth — or the youth you most wanted — at this intentionally playful day retreat that highlights the leisure of June days and the spontaneity of summer nights. Wonder, festive activities, and intentional reflections abound! Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

(My day retreats are non-traditional & aligned with women and gender-expansive humans. If this isn’t your vibe, join me at events like CreativeMornings/Richmond or invite me to present to your group on how to Ditch BS Marketing & Tell Authentic Stories that Convert)

Rest. Recalibrate. Restore. Renew.
