Let July be July
Let’s popularize simplicity
Scrolling through social media this week, I noticed a trend worth mentioning: entire organizations shutting down their offices for company-wide vacation.
I’m sure some places are playing along as a competitive benefit — and some folks employed by these businesses may be working this week — but this concept of collective rest on a holiday week is pretty refreshing.
I’ve written before about how our “No Vacation Nation” thinks 40 hours per week of work is a low bar that should be hurdled and raised regularly.
I’ve also written about how to do a DIY business retreat to reassess priorities and ensure inspiration continues to flow.
Rest and deep restoration are essential to living a meaningful and joyful life.
And while I can teach how to chill on command to a group of people in just a few minutes,
I believe that simplifying our lives to allow for rest means we have to build ease into our lives.
So over the next few months, I’ll be talking about ways I make things simpler. Things like:
How I COOK! differently now (and the change it’s made in my life)
Planning DIY self-retreats for rest and relaxation
Tackling my work like a CEO instead of always playing catch up and putting out fires
Inviting curiosity and creativity back into my day-to-day life
How to use AI effectively and still lead with humanity
and, of course, other things related to branding, content, strategy, and life.
Also, I’d love to hear from YOU.
What do you want to simplify?
Hit reply and let me know.
Let’s explore together as we languish in the heady heat of July.

P.S. Join me LIVE on Instagram next Wednesday at noon with my ingenious friend (and past client) Rebecca Thomas, founder of COOK! Life is hard. Cooking shouldn’t be.
P.P.S Want a guided rest & reset? Time is running out to join the Curiosity (August) and Calm (November) retreats.
(Retreats are non-traditional & for women and gender-expansive humans. If this isn’t your vibe, join me at CreativeMornings/Richmond or invite me to speak)
