The liminal point
The in-between times
If you missed my email on the promise of shortcuts and how to bring curiosity back to your work, find it here.
I’ve been feeling the in-between spaces a lot this week:
The space between successfully launching my Confident Marketing mastermind and having a great kickoff on Valentine’s Day — and knowing that the US is on our 48th mass shooting 45 days into 2024.
The space between onboarding two great clients who want to refresh their website copywriting and brand strategy for ease and alignment — and taking small actions on the (way more than 8) global humanitarian crises that are destroying lives and cultures.
The awareness that my life is full of love and joy and relatively safe — and being aware that so many humans do not have this privilege, even in my neighborhood.
This is a tough email to write because I’m not an expert or full-time activist. Nor am I in my normal “lane” of brand strategy, storytelling, and mindful practices that help us unscript our inner stories so we can make meaningful progress — while hopefully impacting others for the better along the way.
But, life isn’t lived in a lane or two.
And, it’s bigger than the whole damn freeway.
There are no “helpful” platitudes or sweeping answers for how to solve the world’s challenges. There is no short road to peace.
But, if you’re feeling these liminal spaces too —
Whether you’re a business owner, or a person who needs to show up to work every day, or just someone who is trying to make sense of how we are all getting through each day amidst the good, the bad, and the ugly —
I want to remind you that you are human first.
It’s ok to pause and sit in the liminal spaces before deciding what actions to take.
Life is not an either/or proposition. We’ve always lived in a both/and world.
If it’s helpful, revisit my post on how Meditation Can’t Change The Awful Things Happening in the World (because it can’t), but it may help you create some calm to see how to move forward and be a helper— no matter what lane you’re in.
xox,
Michelle
P.S.: It’s possible to do work and honor your values. If you need help navigating this in your messaging and copywriting and are ready to move forward, let’s chat.
